Australia 1931 Indian Obverse Penny Aligned Date Fine
A scarce and important variety – mintage of approx. 46,000. Further experimentation ensued at Melbourne Mint in 1931. This was after making a scarce 3000 examples of 1930 pennies during a period of nil requirement for currency manufacturing. The Great Depression was in full swing in Australia.
Of greatest importance is 1931 Indian Obverse dropped 1. Following on from that is 1931 Indian Obverse Normal 1. The English Obverse varieties are common coins.
Has been treated with Verdichem for long term conservation. Supplied in a PVC free Saflip for archival purposes.
