Purchased from a retiree outside Tumut in the NSW highlands. She was no doubt happy to meet a coin collector and dealer with cash for her little shed store.

Washington dealt itself serious monetary mayhem in the 1870’s when they attempted to fix the price of silver above world market values. The United States was subsequently inundated with silver imports. Thus it wasn’t until 1921 that an overhaul of silver coinage was conducted to replace the massive amounts circulating in poor to very poor condition.
