Australia 1931 Penny Indian Obverse PCGS AU50
A scarce and important variety – mintage of approx. 46,000 for Indian Obverse “normal date” or “aligned date”. Less than 1000 examples produced of the rare “dropped 1” Indian obverse variety before the reverse die broke. The English obverses are common except in UNC grades.
Not quite as rare as the AU55 sold for $900 a year ago; but with only 20 coins graded finer it’s a good trade off in price.
