Australia 1931 Penny Indian Obverse PCGS AU55

A scarce and important variety – mintage of approx. 46,000 for Indian Obverse “normal date” or “aligned date”. Less than 1000 examples produced of the rare “dropped 1” Indian obverse variety before the reverse die broke. The English obverses are common except in UNC grades.

Two coins are graded AU58 as of 12/23; collectors will need very deep pockets for the UNC examples (only 3). At this grade, the coin is rare bordering on very rare.
