Australia 1863 Sydney Half Sovereign PCGS VF35
An interesting coin – can you see why it attracted my attention? It is the die fill on the lettering; an issue when the dies were heavily used. Grime builds up and doesn’t correctly imprint on the coin. This is a very original example of the tough conditions the Sydney Mint faced in the early years. All Sydney Mint coins are scarce and thus collectable.
