Australia 1886 Sydney Half Sovereign PCGS AU55
Australia was shortly to suffer its worse depression since the gold rush had begun in the 1850’s; therefore little surprise that there are no mint state coins graded to date. The economic conditions weren’t ideal for collecting. 1886 Sydney was also a relatively small mintage of 82,000.
This is a very attractive example of the date with lovely copper red toning. This equal second finest graded example will not be easily surpassed by the finest coins graded AU58.
